The transformation of the Bartók district continues today. In addition to the strengthening of the cultural platform, many new shops, cafes, and event spaces are opening. As part of the process, Brutål Bár has also moved into the space of an old-fashioned fried meat restaurant.

The new location connects to the neighborhood's main artery, Bartók Boulevard, and its hustle and bustle flows into its interior spaces. Our goal was to create the feeling that Brutål has always been part of this circulation. The smoky wall texture, the hammered surfaces left in the original, and the damaged elements all affirm the organic development of the street and at the same time suggest that not everything that is old needs to be removed, it is good to maintain the points of connection to the past.

The interior is organized into a single view, which is assembled from a specific point on the street, standing on the sidewalk. Complementing the design of the gallery structure left by the former brewhouse, the trompe-l'œil opens an abstract, boundless space to the new world of the neighborhood. Its central element, the illuminated puppet, was inspired by the iconic scene from Fritz Lang's silent film Metropolis. The metaphorical moment of the robot's awakening to consciousness radiates the atmosphere of our new favorite bar. The theatrical nature of the place is enhanced by the curtain that can be pulled up to full height behind the portal, which offers a completely surreal view of the street when the bar is closed.
