The industrial hall that houses the office was built in the 1960s, using the poor quality building materials available at the time. However, its original designer was not satisfied with the simple framing of a minimally demanding function, but created a truly unique building with a wavy roof shape. Our client found the house in a dilapidated state, burdened by an extension from the 1980s. Starting from this difficult but clear situation, we planned the transformation of the building.

We cleared the superimposed extensions and the entire interior construction from the 1980s from its original state. In its place, we designed a new office space that would enter into dialogue with the industrial environment and the specific quality layers of different eras. In the interior design, our desire to show the original hall as much as possible from the central communal space of the office played a prominent role. Therefore, we included this part of the space in a greenhouse, through the inner facades and triple-repeated glass roof of which we can see the undulating roof shape and the original hall space illuminated by windows with wire glass inserts. We changed the exterior only to the extent necessary for operation, continuing the rhythm of the window divisions of the 1980s along the office spaces, and marking the main entrance with an accent canopy.

Entering the building, we reach the greenhouse, which is the main community and distribution space of the interior. From this open forum, we reach the meeting rooms for receiving external partners, the dining room overlooking the hall space, and the large meeting room. All this via an auditorium-style stepped space, which is the most important scene of informal meetings in everyday life. This space creates an exciting contrast with the greenhouse interior and the otherwise industrial-looking office spaces. In the two-story interior, which is interwoven with rich spatial connections, we designed the office spaces with cool colors, raw concrete, trapezoidal sheet and wood surfaces, as well as unique built-in elements (shelving system, acoustics and mood lighting). The unique interior design, which resonates with the image elements of the owner, an infrastructure construction company, thus not only enters into dialogue with the existing building, but also supports efficient work with its smart solutions.
