International architectural design competition
an open market of written thoughts
Cork city's by-passes via the blocks were the prefiguration for the setting of the building. These foot-paths slash their ways through the sides of building site, thus the main volume is not touching the surrounding buildings, the interior pinches towards the back, creating outer public spaces under the widening volume of the upper floors. The covered market place opens up to the outer squares. Ambiences of public spaces are intensified by the reused elements of the city. Pews, street lights, and square-like pavement nets the ground floor, creating an opened urban zone for arriving. The intermediate levels are hiding behind the media, books and bookshelves obscure the building. The top floor is a covered urban garden, an interconnected forest for meditation. |
Orczy street 31. Budapest
Social housing competition by Rév8
We were invited to this competition which is one of the major social housing competition for years. Five sites, five times five studios.
As this competition aims to be a flagship for social interventions in the district, we created a compact mass, with an opened up interior system and an iconic typology.
As an analysis of the word social, the house is reduced to a livable compromise: building and operational costs to minimum, spatial qualities and flexibility to maximum. |

Atelier House Reitter street 131. Budapest
Architectural design competition
The regulations determined the layout of the building: continuing the chess-board pattern of the surrounding panel blocks, keeping the embedded typology of the area.
We created a diversified section with public spaces opened together on the underground and ground floor and the ateliers put up with a stacked inner level of ateliers between sesquistorey ones. The variety of ateliers is provided by the randomized displacement of the structural frame of cross-walls.
We created two basic volumes: the ateliers are gathered in a box, a wooden wardrobe opening to north, while it is surrounded with an organic concrete-structure of public spaces and corridors.
After all the main volume of the ateliers are hidden under an organic frame of public spaces as an Easter egg lays in the grass. |

Special School for mentally disabled Csorna Complete design, completed in 2004
This complex made up of two buildings is the center for mentally disabled children in North-West Hungary.
The aim was to reaccent the existing hierarchy with a meaningful yet sensual public building in this small town tissue.
This house is the larger one of the two units hosting the sports hall, the restaurant and some public functions too. The inner courts of the house and the long cut that joins the two streets filter into each other creating a narrow transitory space reconstituting the typology and scale of the town. |
