minusplus's self-developed screen system was created by the need for space separation in open-plan offices. We were looking for a solution that could be installed simply as furniture and could be customized in both size and use. The movable, variable elements of the furniture family are suitable for solving a variety of spatial situations related to activity-based work in addition to office space separation: informal meeting rooms, ad-hoc meeting places, rest and café corners can be created quickly, flexibly and cost-effectively with their help.

We partnered with FS Bútor, a company with extensive experience in furniture manufacturing, to develop the screen system. The collaboration resulted in the basic structure that builds the self-produced filling panels onto the frame elements of an industrial shelving system.

The support frames can be set up by being clamped between the floor and the ceiling. Their great advantage is that they can be moved or relocated anywhere without professional work, and there is no need to involve an external contractor for their assembly. Panels selected and placed according to individual needs can be hung on the modular-sized frames. These can be whiteboards, pinboards, sound-absorbing or decorative panels; shelf and flower box elements; or even LCD display mounting. The surface of the frame and the panels is basically raw and material-like: metal, plywood, textile. But since the system can be customized in every detail, even the customer's corporate colors can be reflected in its elements.

The design of the screen system started in mid-2019 in connection with the interior design of an office, the prototypes were completed by the beginning of 2020, and then the first complete system was installed, which immediately proved to be successful. However, the room divider is not a finished story, it can be different in each office, tailored to the individual characteristics; there is also the possibility of development and change.

Perhaps the best example of this is that as soon as the coronavirus imposed new demands on office spaces, we were able to immediately expand the system with a new element, the transparent plexiglass wall. These effectively separate the personal spaces of employees from each other, but at the same time do not visually separate them from each other. Instead of the one-time, special solutions for protecting against the epidemic, the space divider offers a flexible solution that can also be used in the long term: when the plexiglass walls are no longer needed, they can be replaced with whiteboards or sound-absorbing panels. Or even entire partition walls can be moved into new layouts that adapt to the changed use of office space.
